thanks, etc

My dad is home and doing great. Thanks for all the prayers, encouraging emails and such.

Also, I'm really close to having the PA/NY/MD leg of the tour organized. Updates later this week. I'm so organizationally challeneged, kids. I feel like my brain is in a blender.

Blender Brain. Title for the new CD? Let's come back to that later...

The CD is moving along. Finishing vocals and acoustics this week. Rough mixes soon.

I have 18 songs that could go on this album. It's obnoxious, I know. All of them are recorded, most with fairly full productions. I'm trying to shake/squeeze/pare the project down to 12, maybe 13 tunes total. We'll see how that goes. What should I do with the extras? Have a "bonus CD"? Have an "iTunes only" thing? Freebies? Podcasts? Throw them out and/or save them for another record 4-5 years from now? Who has an idea? And don't just say "freebies" unless you have a good reason. Ross gotta eat.

Relase a collection of 10. Throw the others on a special edition bonus compilation and charge 30 bucks a pop.

Better yet, why not take the extra tracks and use them as hidden tracks on records you produce BY OTHER PEOPLE. Wouldn't that be awesome? To tuck one of those tunes as, like, track 56 on the new Darrell Smith CD? That would be hilarious. It wouldn't help you out any, but it would be fun, no?

Sorry about that...

Record an extra song at each stop of the tour, and post it from the road.

Two albums, bro...one now, the other after the tour....the one two punch.

You better do it quick...after they hear the "14k members and me" line they may not ask you back to "Six Flags Church on the Highbank Calvary Community Church and Amusement Park."

Have a 2-disc special edition. The second disc is a DVD with you doing a "Nooma" like film with the extra songs mixed in as illustrations.

Of course that would require lots of Video editing and junk like that.

Oh and "Nooma" was the only way I could describe what I meant so that everyone knew what I was talking about. It does not need to be a Rob Bell knock-off.

Use the extra songs to insulate an add-on room to your house.

Keep the songs as insurance against anyone who might attack you.

Place the songs in a box... the box in a bigger box... and make fun of them for not being able to break out of there.

Eat the songs.

Take them and make a CD for the families that are hosting your shows and offer it at the shows.

Then you can offer additional ones that you print as a bonus CD after your house tour is over, but give people that attend your shows a chance to get it first.

How about a "Ross King Musical Advent Calendar"? One new song per day. Just in time for Christmas!

Actually I think you should release the extra songs into the wild. Everyone knows music won't breed in captivity.

Hey Ross
The bonus Cd idea sounds good, i have always liked when bands (or otherwise) release smaller collections (like EPs or whatever) it is sorta like tiding you over until supper...

perhaps get together with other artists such as yourself like wayne kerr, etc and make a compilation cd of sorts, that way people who like 1 artist from the cd will see some awesome music from other artists and become intersted in their music... and so on.
